The workplace is at 10, Roosevelt Avenue. The working schedule may include day, evening and night shifts, weekdays or weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the authority of the Sergeant, he patrols the Town's territory, responds to calls on the road and enforces municipal regulations, including parking rules. He applies the various directives of the department in accordance with the mandate of the Public Security Department.

EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED

Operations
  • Patrols residential, commercial, industrial areas and pays particular attention to patrol targets as determined by the Lieutenant.
  • Enforces municipal regulations, including parking regulations.
  • Provides assistance to school crossing attendants.
  • Checks municipal permits such as parking, gardening and snow removal.
  • Writes detailed violation reports and event reports.
  • Performs various administrative tasks for the Town such as mail delivery.
  • Enforces regulations or laws under the jurisdiction of Public Security.
  • Responds to citizens questions and complaints.
  • Catches and/or releases animals and provides animal control.
  • Reports any discrepancies of interest to the appropriate Town departments.
  • Responds to alarms in public or private buildings as part of the services provided to the population by Public Security.
  • Monitors municipal buildings, parks and infrastructure.
  • Ensures the safety of the children at the entrance and exit of the classes.
  • Checks residences enrolled in the monitoring program.
  • Provides a reassuring presence to merchants during business closures.
  • Conducts foot patrols in targeted locations.
  • Directs traffic as needed.
  • Assists the police, fire and emergency health services.
  • Participates in town prevention programs and events.
  • Testifies in Municipal Court under subpoena.
  • Responds to requests for special monitoring.
  • Checks the installation of child car seats.
  • Enters relevant data into the department's databases.
  • Carries out verifications, investigations and follow-ups of files under its jurisdiction.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by a superior.


Equipment and maintenance
  • Performs equipment checks (vehicles, radio, etc.) at the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and proper functioning of its equipment.


Complaint management
  • Responds to calls from citizens.
  • Follows up on files (investigations, feedback to citizens, etc.).


REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Hold a high school diploma (DES) or equivalent
  • Possess one (1) year to less than two (2) years of experience in a job that allows the incumbent to become familiar with the field of employment.


QUALITIES

Mastery:
  • French and English* language.

*Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town's citizens.

Knowledge of:
  • Radio systems.
