Labcorp is seeking a
Surgical Pathologist/Cytopathologist to join our team in
Birmingham, AL.Work Schedule: Generally (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)
Job Responsibilities- Individual diagnostic evaluation and sign-out of surgical pathology and cytology cases, including a high volume of Gynecologic pathology specimens.
- Assure compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety guidelines/standards
- Accurate and timely evaluation of specimens tested
- Assures good laboratory practice (GLP) and compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
- Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff, in person, by phone or electronically
Minimum Qualifications- Medical Degree from an accredited college/university
- AL & GA Licensed Physician
- Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
- Eligible to obtain LA, MS, TN & FL state medical licenses
Additional Job Standards- Experience in a high-volume hospital and/or large referral laboratory environment preferred
- Subspecialty Board Certification in Cytopathology is highly desired
- Experience in gynecologic pathology is highly desired
- Subspecialty training in Surgical Pathology is highly desired
- Subspecialty training or experience in ENT, Breast or Gastointestinal Pathology
- Organized and efficient problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
