Job Purpose

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America (HDMA) International Supply Chain Packaging Engineer Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of packaging for all North America Export parts.

In the Packaging Developer role, you are responsible for:

Packaging development for secure shipping of automotive parts between suppliers and International Honda plants while considering a wide degree of supply chain characteristics, part quality, handling objectives and constraints.

Evaluate, test (as needed) and approve packaging designs, validate change points, determining effectiveness to minimize critical impact or risk.

Support Associate Development (refer to Packaging Engineer - A EX1 CL3). Lead Supplier Composition Activity for Packaging Buildout. Train and support outside Honda Packaging Developer associates to utilize ISC Pack Lab for Packaging Testing.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage OEM Packaging pertaining to design support, development, approval and maintenance.
  • Lead and manage Intercompany and ISC responsible Packaging pertaining to design, development, safety and structural.
  • Trouble Shoot and correct design related packaging issues, cost down and efficiency up changepoints. Use 3D modelling software and expertise to gain buy-in from key stakeholders and push for optimal packaging design.
  • Manage, train and support internal and external Honda Packaging Developer associates to utilize ISC Pack Lab for Packaging Testing.
  • Lead Supplier Composition activity for Packaging.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field or equivalent engineering experience

Minimum Experience:
  • 2+ years relevant experience

Other Job-Specific Skills:
  • Previous experience working in the automotive and/or manufacturing industry preferred

  • Understand when there are impasses in development and escalate issues for further support to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Approve Packaging design and cost through Packaging Information Forms (PIF)


Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work style
  • Requires travel to local warehouse facilities, Domestic Suppliers & Packaging Fabricators
  • Potential for some International Travel to overseas Plant Destinations
