SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Join a nationally recognized academic Infectious Disease program at a large tertiary care medical center. The APP will serve as an integral member of the inpatient Infectious Disease consult service, partnering with physicians, learners, and multidisciplinary teams to provide expert care for medically complex hospitalized patients. This role offers exposure to a diverse range of infectious diseases, opportunities for professional growth in an academic environment, involvement in teaching and collaborative care, and the ability to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing inpatient infectious disease consultations and follow-up evaluations.
  • Assessing and managing a broad range of infectious conditions including bacteremia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, complicated skin and soft tissue infections, multidrug-resistant infections, and sepsis.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory, microbiology, and diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Developing and implementing antimicrobial treatment plans.
  • Supporting antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary rounds and care coordination.
  • Facilitating transitions of care and discharge planning for patients requiring ongoing antimicrobial therapy.
  • Providing education to patients, families, learners, and healthcare team members.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.
  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Disease, or related inpatient specialty preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • Ability to interpret microbiology, laboratory, and radiographic data.
  • Understanding of antimicrobial stewardship principles.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary inpatient teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and care coordination skills.
  • Interest in academic medicine, education, and evidence-based practice
