AECOM Mississauga is hiring an Owner's Airside & Infrastructure Engineering Team Lead. The Owner's Airside & Infrastructure Engineering Team Lead provides leadership, technical oversight, and strategic coordination across multidisciplinary engineering and architectural functions supporting the Airport Capital Improvement Program. Serving as a key interface between the Owner's Engineer (OE) Director, the Owner's Engineering Team, the Project Delivery Team, Contractors, design consultants, and operationalstakeholders, the Team Lead ensures effective collaboration, alignment of project objectives, and delivery of engineering services in accordance with Airport standards, agency technical requirements, modernization initiatives, and ongoing operational requirements. This role combines technical and organizational leadership, program integration, delivery, and stakeholder management. The Team Lead fosters collaboration across diverse technical disciplines, resolves complex program challenges, maintains engineering quality and consistency, and supports the successful delivery of critical airport infrastructure projects in a highly complex and operationally sensitive environment. The Team Lead also provides coaching, mentoring, and professional support to team members, fostering resilience, engagement, and high performance within a demanding project environment. • This role requires full-time, on-site work at the Airport Program Team office. Key Responsibilities Program and Team Leadership • Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering and architectural services supporting major airport capital programs, revitalization initiatives, infrastructure projects, and ongoing airport operations. • Provide leadership and oversight to Controls Engineering, Facilities Systems Engineering, Airside and Groundside Infrastructure Engineering, Architectural Services, Engineering Data and BIM, and Commissioning Services. • Establish priorities, resource plans, and delivery strategies across technical disciplines. • Promote collaboration, accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, team engagement, resilience, and professional growth. Integrated Engineering Management • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and architectural activities to align technical standards, project objectives, schedules, and stakeholder expectations. • Ensure consistent application of engineering review processes, technical governance frameworks, design standards, and quality requirements. • Integrate engineering services across concurrent projects and operational initiatives, identifying risks, resolving conflicts, and optimizing project outcomes. Technical Leadership and Quality Assurance • Provide senior technical guidance and subject matter expertise in building systems engineering, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems. • Review and evaluate Contractor and Design Team technical submissions, engineering designs, reports, specifications, and construction documentation. • Oversee design reviews, peer reviews, technical assessments, and engineering evaluations, ensuring consistency with established program requirements. • Support resolution of complex technical, operational, and constructability issues throughout planning, design, and construction and across concurrent airport projects. • Ensure engineering solutions and project designs meet operational, safety, regulatory, maintainability, lifecycle performance, and long-term asset management requirements. • Provide technical advice and recommendations supporting project development, procurement, execution, and commissioning. Stakeholder, Program Integration and Collaboration • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Airport leadership, operational departments, project delivery teams, Design-Build/CMAR Contractors and Design Teams, consultants, and external stakeholders. • Serve as a key liaison between the Airport, Owner's Engineer organization, and project delivery partners. • Facilitate communication, collaboration, issue resolution, and consensus among stakeholders with competing interests and priorities. • Promote alignment of objectives, responsibilities, processes, and expectations across participating organizations. • Champion the integration of Airport leadership goals and Owner's Engineer staff into a cohesive, high-performing delivery organization. • Drive consistency in technical approaches, review methodologies, standards, and processes across the capital program while supporting operational continuity. People Leadership and Talent Development • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop engineering and architectural professionals across multiple disciplines. • Provide guidance on technical review responsibilities, professional judgment, and stakeholder management. • Support career development, succession planning, professional growth, and thoughtful and constructive annual reviews. • Foster a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and team development. Risk, Issue Resolution and Decision Support • Identify technical, operational, and program risks and work proactively with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies. • Lead resolution of complex multidisciplinary issues affecting project delivery, operational readiness, and stakeholder alignment. • Provide objective technical recommendations and decision support to senior program leadership. • Escalate significant risks, concerns, and emerging issues as appropriate. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent professional accreditation preferred. • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, including aviation, rail and transit, or other complex large transportation programs. • Demonstrated aviation/airport project experience is required. Preferred Qualifications • Ideally 15+ years experience in large scale aviation projects • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a program or portfolio environment. • Experience supporting major airport infrastructure projects, transportation hubs, or similarly complex operational facilities. • Strong technical background in building systems, infrastructure engineering, design management, and project delivery. • Experience working within Owner's Engineer, Owner's Representative, Program Management, or Design-Build environments. Additional Information • This role requires full-time, on-site work in Mississauga, five days per week. • This is a replacement position.
