Description

Position Summary: The Operations Supervisor III is responsible for overseeing one or more processes pertaining to the treatment of wastewater and/or biosolids.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements: Must be able to prepare concise and accurate reports, provide conclusions, and make recommendations. Must be able to train and supervise subordinate employees performing various activities dealing with wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal, as well as assign appropriate tasks. Must have knowledge of the various governmental regulations dealing with all aspects of wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal, as well as be able to comprehend the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the collection of wastewater. Must have knowledge of both the principles and methods used in the treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids, as well as the occupational hazards and the safety precautions exercised in the collection and treatment of wastewater and/or biosolids. Must be computer literate and able to plan, organize, and execute a computerized maintenance management program. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position and carry out verbal and written directions. This position may work on a rotating shift basis.

Experience and License Requirements: A valid New Jersey driver's license. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a wastewater treatment facility. A New Jersey Treatment Plant S2 license is required (or must be actively pursuing*). A New Jersey C2 collections system license is preferred. *Actively pursuing is defined as taking the associated State license exam at least two (2) times per year until the license is obtained.

Education: High school diploma or equivalency certificate required. Associate's degree in engineering or the sciences is preferred. Satisfactory completion of both the Basic and Advanced Wastewater Treatment courses is required. Completion of the Advanced Wastewater Collections course is preferred.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC's Facial Hair Grooming Policy.

Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and required to work indoors and outdoors. Must be available for emergencies or job assignments on a 24-hour basis.

The expected base pay range is $111,852 to $139,765. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
