JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity
This position works out of our Kansas City, MO location in the Toxicology, Diagnostics Division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott's diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

The Operations Records Specialist supports regulatory, operations, and compliance activities for Abbott Rapid Diagnostics - Toxicology - US Workplace. This role provides support, including regulatory research, document management, contract support, and audit preparation. The position partners with internal stakeholders to ensure processes and documentation align with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, while escalating complex operational legal matters to appropriate Legal or Compliance functions. Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to interpret regulatory guidance are critical to success.

What You'll Work On
  • Conduct regulatory and legal research related to drug testing, occupational health, and workplace compliance requirements
  • Monitor federal, state, and local regulatory changes (e.g., DOT, workplace drug testing, HIPAA) and summarize impacts for internal stakeholders
  • Support development, review, and version control of policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
  • Partner with operations, HR, sales, and client services to operationalize compliance requirements
  • Support internal and external audits, investigations, and compliance reviews through documentation gathering and tracking
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing contracts, templates, and client-facing materials under direction of Legal
  • Maintain accurate records of regulatory filings, certifications, and compliance activities
  • Track and escalate potential compliance risks or issues to Legal or Compliance leadership
  • Support employee training efforts by preparing materials and tracking completion
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal, health, and business information
  • Manage the process for credentialling nurses and physicians within the Medical Review Office and Occupational Health Service teams.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field or equivalent paralegal experience
  • 2+ years of experience in legal support, regulatory support, compliance, or similar environment
  • Foundational understanding of healthcare, workplace, or regulated industry requirements
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certification or compliance-related certification
  • Experience in occupational health, drug testing, or regulated healthcare environments
  • Familiarity with regulations such as DOT compliance, HIPAA, and state-specific employment laws
  • Experience with compliance tracking systems or audit management tools
