Operations Manager - North The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is looking for a highly organized, proactive Operations Manager-North. The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, and facilities of assigned Forest Preserve District properties, including trails, campgrounds, amenities, and structures. Working under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position leads staff through hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, performance management, and daily work assignments. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with knowledge of land, facility, parks, or preserve management. Candidates should have an associate's degree in facility management, parks and recreation, or a related field, along with 6-8 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience of a minimum of three (3) years; preferred five (5) years or an equivalent combination of education and training. The role requires a valid Illinois driver's license, the ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, occasional irregular hours and emergency callouts, and the ability to obtain required certifications such as CPR/First Aid/AED, CDL Class A, Pesticide Applicator, and prescribed burn certifications within one year of employment. 3 Minimum Age Requirement: 21 years of age3 A valid driver's license and CDL are essential to this role because the Operations Manager must travel between preserves and facilities and oversee operations involving District vehicles and specialized equipment. The position requires the ability to safely operate and oversee equipment such as dump trucks, trailers, tractors, loaders, and other maintenance vehicles while ensuring compliance with safety and legal requirements. This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $88,347-$115,919, with a starting salary of $88,347-$92,820 DOQ, plus eligibility for the District's full-time benefits package.
