Summary

This position creatively and independently leads and manages with little direction, the service delivery of the golf business operations including organizational development, event management, fiscal control, strategic marketing, revenue production, programming, staff utilization, long range planning, and the safe operation/coordination of facilities. The Golf Operations Manager will have the ability to give independent lessons on a limited basis on a separate contract as determined by the General Manager.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position is supervised by the Head Golf Professional.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This position supervises the Golf Operations Coordinator, as well as their subsequent staff including full and part-time staff and contractual persons that are assigned. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the volunteer program in conjunction with the First Assistant Golf Professional and Head Golf Professional.
Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts with independent judgment to manage comprehensive operations in the area of responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the accurate budget development for related areas including anticipated revenues and expenses.
  • Markets products, activities, and events by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Prepares reports to track sales data and maintains promotional materials inventory.
  • Showcases the course and City in a positive light at trade shows, local events, and job fairs.
  • Evaluates and develops the course marketing strategy and marketing plan.
  • Research demand for our product and services and that of our competitors.
  • Responsible for the updating of the golf website; including, but not limited to, updating rates; camps/clinics/group instruction information; staff information; tournament and event calendars and information; pictures; promotional material and offers; and all other golf information as deemed necessary by the Head Golf Professional and General Manager
  • Maintains the Point of Sale and Tee Sheet Management software to include up-to-date information and rates.
  • Controls the management of camp, clinic, group instruction, tournament, activity, and event registration including creating the activity codes, dates, times, rates, fees, and all other pertinent information.
  • Responsible for archiving all activity and event information after completion of said activity or event.
  • Runs financial and registration reports for all camps, clinics, tournaments, and events.
  • Creates and distributes flyers for all camps, clinics, tournaments, events, and activities.
  • Maintains Mood Media/Focus 4 or other AV equipment used by the golf operation on property and updates information as directed by Head Golf Professional or General Manager
  • Responsible for the creation of an activity calendar in conjunction with the Head Golf Professional General Manager and Lead Independent Contractor for posting and registration.
  • Responsible for scheduling of Independent Contractors in the Training Center, including but not limited to, Trackman, Swing Catalyst, Sam Putt Lab, Megsa Units, K-Motion swing analysis, and classroom usage with consideration given to the maximization of revenues, seniority of instructor, or importance of activity or event as determined by management.
  • Attends Operations Meeting weekly.
  • Attends City mandated meetings and training for all IT, Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Management related disciplines.
  • Acts as Manager on Duty
  • Assists with all tournaments, events, activities, camps, clinics, and other group instruction as instructed by the Head Golf Professional or General Manager
  • Informs and updates staff on current and upcoming tournaments, events, and activities.
  • Maintains and updates the course web site for ADA compliance and accurate information.
  • Responsible for effective marketing programs to promote the facility in all media formats.
  • Responsible for the fiscal control of expenditures for the front of the house operations; ensures responsible spending, adherence to purchasing policies and the efficient use of materials and supplies.
  • Creates and organizes community groups to spearhead partnership endeavors.
  • Conducts events that would further enhance services within area of responsibility.
  • Researches grant and other sources that would provide and enhance present or future programs or events.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with the public and user groups.
  • Responsible for the training of volunteers and administration of the background check program for golf programs.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws that govern over areas of responsibilities.
  • Ensures all licenses and software up-to-date and provides training and assistance on equipment as directed including Trackman, K-Motion, Swing Catalyst, Sam Putt Lab, Mood Media, etc.
  • Develops effective policies for the operation of programs and facilities including participant and staff safety, planning, value benefit, service level standards and quality assurance.
  • Manages and projects staffing needs; oversees staff development within the area of programs including hiring, training and reviewing.
  • Assigns and supervises responsibilities to appropriate staff, monitors and evaluates progress and success of programs.
  • Contributes to Division, Department and/or City-wide committees as assigned.
  • Participates in Division management discussions and planning meetings, provides input and feedback on Division operations.
  • Responsible for responding to issues as they arise outside of normal working hours.
  • Resolves issues brought forth by the public, participants or staff in a positive manner that is in the best interests of the City.
  • Develops the direction and goals for the area of responsibility on a -continual basis.
  • Works with the General Manager and Head Golf Professional to refine focus and align necessary resources.
  • Develops long-range plans that resolve funding issues that may impact budget needs and projections.
  • Uses knowledge, trends and analysis, develops long range plans for the area and division.
  • Acts in the absence of the Head Golf Professional when assigned.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Parks/Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Sports Management or related field, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Extensive management and/or supervisory experience, and
  • Additional experience in sports, recreation, golf operations, leisure opportunity development, event management, and/or marketing and fundraising, with a particular emphasis on golf operations
  • PGA or LPGA member certification and/or associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related area or field
  • Any related combination of education, training and experience

Special Qualifications/Preferences

  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Trackman, Swing Catalyst, Sam Putt Lab, K-Motion, and Megsa training and/or certification preferred.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification (must obtain within 6 months of hire)

Eligibility:Coverage in the City's group insurance plans begins the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.
