What Success Looks Like

Within your first 90 days, you'll have:

  • Developed a clear maintenance and inspection schedule for all fleet assets.
  • Established accurate fleet records and maintenance tracking within our asset management systems.
  • Built strong working relationships with drivers, mechanics, and operations staff to improve communication around repairs and equipment needs.
  • Identified opportunities to improve fleet uptime, maintenance planning, safety compliance, or asset utilization.
  • Become a trusted operational partner to the General Manager on fleet performance and workforce development.

What You'll Actually Do in Your First 30 Days

  • Review the condition, maintenance history, and compliance status of all fleet assets and service center equipment.
  • Meet with drivers, mechanics, and operational team members to understand current challenges and maintenance priorities.
  • Assess existing repair schedules, preventive maintenance programs, and asset tracking processes.
  • Begin addressing high-priority equipment, compliance, or reliability issues while establishing consistent communication and reporting routines with the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations & Asset Management

  • Maintain the operational readiness, organization, and appearance of fleet assets, facilities, and service center grounds.
  • Manage fleet and service center assets to maximize utilization, reliability, and return on investment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records using company asset management systems.
  • Monitor fleet performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime, efficiency, and long-term asset value.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and operations comply with all applicable safety regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as a resource on the safe storage, handling, and transportation of propane.
  • Support safety meetings and provide ongoing fleet-related safety training.
  • Verify required certifications, credentials, and compliance requirements are maintained for fleet personnel.

Maintenance & Repair Leadership

  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair schedules to support operational demands.
  • Partner with drivers and operations personnel to diagnose issues and prioritize repairs.
  • Perform diagnostics, inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment when needed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake system issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods.
  • Coordinate roadside support and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

Team Leadership

  • Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding efforts.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to mechanics and other team members.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Must Have

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, and related vehicle components.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities, repair priorities, and fleet readiness.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in a transportation, fleet, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Ability to perform hands-on mechanical work, including lifting equipment and working in shop, field, and outdoor environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in propane, energy, logistics, transportation, or a related industry.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising mechanics, technicians, or operational teams.
  • Experience with fleet or asset management software.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
  • ASE certification.
  • Completion of diesel technology, vocational, or trade school training.
  • Experience delivering safety training or leading safety initiatives.

Work Environment

This role combines office, shop, and field responsibilities. You can expect to spend time reviewing operational data, coordinating maintenance activities, working directly with technicians, and performing hands-on mechanical work when needed. Work may occasionally take place outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active fleet operations.

Pay & Benefits

Pay Rate for this role is $90,000-$110,000 (depending on experience)
