Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible to direct manufacturing operations and management teams to support business goals. Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in manufacturing processes. Monitors production metrics and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Participates in workforce or labor relations negotiations and planning activities. Implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Hires and trains new employees.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.


Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plans and organizes daily activities related to production and operations.
  • Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
  • Coordinates with other support departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
  • Oversees the purchasing function.
  • Oversees the shipping and receiving functions.
  • Determines labor needs to meet production goals.
  • Measures productivity KPIs by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
  • Accountable for KPI performance and regular communication updates up and down organizational structure.
  • Assists with budget preparation for operations unit.
  • Coordinates with product development department to determine viability, pricing, timing, coordination of new products to grow the business.
  • Assists with, or prepares and updates, organization's Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
  • Researches, identifies, and presents new ideas to improve operations.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
  • Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.


Education and Experience:
  • Experience in food production and management a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field required; M.B.A. preferred.
  • Certification through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) preferred.
  • Five years of related experience required.


Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
