We are seeking an Operations Management Technician/Engineer IV

Located on-site at NOB Norfolk, VA

The Operations Management Technician is a multidisciplinary position that will be expected to cross train across all IPT supported applications; troubleshoot afloat and ashore system issues to include program/application/network problems; deploy software afloat and ashore; participate in software testing; provide functional application training. The Operations Management Technician is specifically responsible for the following functions of BA ISEA IPT Operations Management:

Fleet Modernization:
  • Providing new application deployment rollout and cutover.
  • Providing all deployment activities to ensure success, meeting the customer's expectation.
  • Effectively interface with on-site coordinators, program office sponsors, ship personnel, and various waterfront support in coordination with and/or at the direction of the Fleet Modernization Liaison Manager and in conjunction with specific system Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leaders.
  • Develop technical solutions and support process improvement initiatives keeping the Fleet Modernization Liaison Manager informed on risks and issues that could significantly impact the business.
  • Assisting the Fleet Modernization Liaison Manager and/or AIT Leaders with coaching and facilitating the development of team members through daily engagement
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates at the direction of the Fleet Modernization Liaison Manager and/or AIT Leaders to fulfill the install demand signal (annual spend plan input)

Service Desk:
  • Monitor and manage assigned trouble tickets to ensure effective and efficient resolution.
  • Communicate directly with customers, other team members, and other SMEs as required; provide customer guidance/training as needed.
  • Communicate with database engineering and system engineers/developers as required/appropriate
  • Analyze ability to solve customer issues at various Tiers (i.e., appropriate problems are solved at a given Tier and escalated appropriately)

  • Resolve conflicts across deployment and distance support by performing work objectives as a cohesive unit - one team working together
  • Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME): Must have knowledge of the technical aspects of the family of system applications for LOG IT system(s) and understand how the system/apps all work/fit together. Senior SMEs will be expected to mentor junior SMEs and cross train on all systems in the BA ISEA IPT and will be encouraged to gain system administrator certifications.
  • System Administrator Subject Matter Expert (SME): Must have knowledge of the technical aspects of the Operating System (WIN, SEQL), setting up Servers, Databases, Network connections, and how the system/apps all work/fit together. Senior SMEs will be expected to mentor junior SMEs and cross train on all systems in the BA ISEA IPT.

Education:
  • BS degree in Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems or Computer Science.
  • Software Engineer or computer related degrees only: Working towards the following certifications within one and a half year after assuming

Qualifications:
  1. Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Certified SAFe Agile Software Engineer, Certified SAFe DevOps Practitioner, Certified SAFe Architect, and Foundational, Associate or Professional Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications).
  2. Ten (10) years of experience in Navy maintenance, logistics, and business system projects, to include: Engineering, Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specification, Systems Analysis, Information Assurance, Requirements analysis, Net development, SQL/Oracle Database Administration, Software Installation, System Administration, Release management, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.
  3. Five (5) years of technical experience in support of DoN Systems in the maintenance and sustainment phase of the lifecycle.
  4. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
