As a MITRE Operations Lead, you'll be the glue that holds everything together. You'll work closely with leadership and key teams to ensure our operations are seamless, efficient, and always ahead of the curve. The ideal candidate will possess the initiative to manage complex business operations efforts and the ability to work independently and consult with appropriate parties as needed. They will be customer-service focused, collaborative, and be able to problem solve and maintain professional composure while working under pressure of internal and external deadlines. They will possess highly effective communication skills, excellent judgment, and a tolerance for risk-taking. Success will require working as a trusted partner to staff at all levels of seniority.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate business, program, and operational activities across a complex, matrixed organization to ensure strategic priorities are effectively implemented.
  • Manage resource planning, staffing, budgets, financial tracking, project execution, and expense management to ensure organizational objectives are achieved.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to leadership, providing operational support for strategic planning, execution, performance tracking, decision-making, and day-to-day administrative operations.
  • Manage executive and organizational administrative functions, including calendaring, meeting scheduling, travel coordination, expense reporting, action-item tracking, and preparation of meeting materials.
  • Establish and maintain operational rhythms, communications channels, collaboration tools, websites, dashboards, schedules, records, and documentation to support organizational transparency and execution.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, business reviews, leadership engagements, board meetings, workshops, events, and external outreach activities; develop agendas, briefing materials, meeting minutes, and action-item tracking.
  • Monitor project, program, and organizational risks; identify issues, drive resolution, and ensure accountability for action items and milestones.
  • Partner closely with finance, contracts, human resources, talent acquisition, security, and other corporate functions to enable mission success.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes, governance mechanisms, and best practices that increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across leadership, technical staff, administrative staff, sponsors, subcontractors, research partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Drive organizational alignment by serving as a connector across diverse teams, disciplines, and stakeholder communities.
  • Support communications, advocacy, and engagement efforts through preparation of presentations, reports, messaging, and executive-level briefings.
  • Identify and leverage artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled tools and workflows to improve operational efficiency, decision support, knowledge management, reporting, and organizational effectiveness.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • A customer service mindset focused on minimizing barriers to execution and maximizing organizational performance and mission impact.
  • Quantitative mindset with proven skills in financial management and budgeting.
  • Experience overseeing project management and creating presentations and visualizations of timelines, milestones, and objectives related to budgets and resources.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills to include Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams.
  • Experience leading operations or finance in a diverse, technology-focused organization.
  • Significant experience and demonstrated excellence partnering with support functions, including human resources, finance, contracts, and talent acquisition.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing internal/external events across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Possess the ability to organize and manage complex projects or programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive collaboration across partners.
  • Must have an active Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with government classified systems (e.g., JWCIS, SIPR).
  • Experience with Salesforce (or other CRMs) and Clarity (or other project planning tools).

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$132,000 - $165,000 - $198,000 Annual
