As a member of the Apollo Solution Architect Team (ASAT), the selected candidate will design innovative operational, analytical, technological, visualization, automation, and knowledge-management solutions that improve mission effectiveness across the full spectrum of Apollo services. This role supports all Combatant Commands and serves as the principal solution design expert responsible for transforming operational requirements into scalable, integrated, and executable mission solutions that improve information advantage, operational agility, and decision superiority.


As a Solutions Designer (SME), you will:

  • Serve as a core member of the Apollo Solution Architect Team (ASAT) supporting Combatant Commands, Task Forces, Joint Task Forces, and mission partners across the full Apollo portfolio.
  • Serve as a senior solution architect responsible for designing integrated operational, analytical, and technical solutions.
  • Act as the ASAT coordinator, ensuring solution designs are synchronized across ASAT workstreams and aligned with the Solutions Manager’s direction.
  • Serve as the technical design lead for ASAT, focusing on workflow engineering, automation concepts, visualization frameworks, and integration of emerging technologies
  • Design integrated operational solutions that connect planning, operations, intelligence, assessment, analytics, training, knowledge management, Irregular Warfare (IW), and Information Forces activities.
  • Analyze mission requirements, user workflows, operational challenges, and capability gaps to develop innovative and practical mission-focused solutions.
  • Develop solution architectures, operational workflows, data flows, decision-support frameworks, knowledge-management designs, and automation concepts.
  • Create operational concepts, solution blueprints, implementation designs, workflow diagrams, process models, and capability integration approaches supporting Apollo requirements.
  • Design solutions that leverage OIE capabilities, ISIO activities, assessment frameworks, operational intelligence, data analytics, AI-enabled support tools, visualization platforms, and information-sharing environments.
  • Support development of Power BI dashboards, knowledge-management environments, collaboration architectures, operational visualization frameworks, and decision-support designs.
  • Translate operational requirements from Combatant Commands into technical, analytical, procedural, and organizational solution designs.
  • Collaborate with Solutions Managers, OIE Planners, Data Scientists, Knowledge Managers, ISIOs, Assessment Integrators, and Information Forces specialists to ensure designs are operationally relevant and technically feasible.
  • Facilitate solution design workshops, mission engineering sessions, operational design reviews, requirements workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Produce solution concepts, design documentation, implementation roadmaps, executive briefings, visualization products, and capability recommendations.
  • Support experimentation, prototyping, pilot initiatives, and innovation activities that improve mission performance across the Information Environment.
  • Recommend future-state operational architectures and modernization approaches that improve scalability, interoperability, collaboration, and mission effectiveness.
  • Travel (CONUS/OCONUS) to support solution requirements across participating CCMDs.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.  
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Operations, Military Operations, Operational Planning, Business Transformation, Human-Centered Design, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 11 years of experience supporting military operations, solution design, systems integration, mission engineering, operational planning, business transformation, data solutions, or related mission areas.
  • Minimum 5 years supporting Combatant Commands, Joint Task Forces, Joint Staff, Service Components, or equivalent operational headquarters.
  • Demonstrated experience designing operational solutions, business processes, mission workflows, data architectures, decision-support environments, or capability integration approaches.
  • Strong understanding of Joint Planning Process (JP 5-0), OIE, Information Forces, operational intelligence, assessments, and operational design principles.
  • Experience developing workflow diagrams, process maps, operational architectures, solution models, concepts of operation (CONOPS), or design documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform operational requirements into actionable designs, architectures, and implementation strategies.
  • Experience operating in cross-functional environments that integrate analytical, operational, technical, and organizational stakeholders.
  • Strong written, visual, briefing, facilitation, and design communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively while developing practical, scalable, mission-focused solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, National Security Studies, Information Systems, Business Administration, Operational Design, Human-Centered Design, Strategic Studies, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience as a Solutions Designer, Solutions Architect, Mission Engineer, Operational Design Planner, Systems Engineer, Business Architect, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent role.
  • Experience supporting Theater Campaign Plans, Combatant Command modernization activities, contingency operations, information advantage initiatives, or operational transformation efforts.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, MAVEN, C2IE, data visualization platforms, AI-enabled decision-support tools, collaboration environments, and workflow automation platforms.
  • Experience designing dashboards, collaboration solutions, data management frameworks, operational knowledge environments, or visualization systems.
  • Experience integrating planning, operations, intelligence, assessment, communications, training, and technology-enabled capabilities.
  • Experience supporting OIE, IW, PSYOP, Cyber, STO, OPSEC, JEMSO, KLE, Public Affairs, Assessment, or Operational Intelligence missions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies, human-centered design techniques, process improvement methodologies, Agile frameworks, and mission engineering concepts.
  • Experience supporting multiple Combatant Commands or enterprise-level DoD transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with C2IE (Command and Control of the Information Environment) and/or Maven platforms.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Agile, PMP, TOGAF, Systems Engineering, Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, or related certifications.

Compensation Details:

$130,000 – $180,000
