Operations Director (Repower)

As the Operations Director - Repower, you will serve as the senior operational leader for Deutsche Windtechnik's Repower division. Working closely with the Vice President, Repower, you will oversee the successful execution of repower and major component replacement campaigns across the United States while building the systems, processes, and field leadership necessary to support continued growth.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

Operations & Field Management
  • Lead and develop field teams, including Site Managers, Construction Managers, technicians, subcontractors, and vendor partners.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and industry best practices across all project sites.
  • Optimize workforce planning and resource allocation across concurrent projects, balancing internal crews, contract labor, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Establish productivity benchmarks including turbine completion rates, crane utilization, rework metrics, and schedule performance, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Own field readiness across the portfolio, including tooling, equipment availability, training and certification compliance (QEW, OEM-specific qualifications), and crew composition standards.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and partner closely with HSE on incident prevention, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.

Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure major component availability, lead-time management, and delivery sequencing aligned with project schedules and crane mobilizations.
  • Direct site logistics planning, including laydown yards, component staging, transportation windows, and crane mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor performance in the field, including crane providers, transportation partners, and specialty service contractors.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate supply chain risks, including component delays, transportation constraints, weather impacts, and resource availability challenges.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Implement Lean methodologies and process optimization initiatives across project planning, field execution, commissioning, and project closeout workflows.
  • Standardize repeatable execution playbooks, including work packages, inspection and test plans (ITPs), commissioning checklists, and lessons-learned processes.
  • Develop and maintain operational KPI dashboards and reporting structures while establishing a regular operating cadence through daily site huddles, weekly project reviews, and monthly portfolio reviews.
  • Evaluate and deploy tools, technology, and reporting solutions that improve field productivity, documentation quality, and operational visibility.

Leadership & Strategic Support
  • Represent the Vice President, Repower in customer meetings, leadership forums, and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to divisional strategy, annual planning, resource forecasting, bid/no-bid decisions, and proposal reviews by providing execution-focused input on cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Build and strengthen the field leadership bench through recruiting, development, succession planning, and career progression initiatives for Site Managers and Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with Long-Term O&M and SFS service lines on shared resource planning, technician deployment strategies, and cross-functional business opportunities.
