Full Job Description
ABOUT THIS ROLE

As LVT's manufacturing and inventory operations scale, we need an Operations Controller to own the accounting backbone behind them. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will own the accounting functions tied to inventory, cost accounting, and fixed assets, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records as LVT's manufacturing and inventory operations grow in complexity. This role requires strong GAAP knowledge, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to partner closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams in a fast-paced environment where problem-solving and efficiency are paramount.

LVT is a flexible-first company, and this role is based in-office at our American Fork, UT headquarters.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inventory Accounting & Reconciliation: Own the monthly reconciliation of all inventory-related general ledger accounts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and reserves), ensuring balances are accurate and fully supported.
  • Inventory Variance Analysis: Perform monthly inventory variance analysis (purchase price, usage, and manufacturing variances), investigate root causes, and partner with Operations to drive resolution.
  • Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory: Own LVT's cycle count program and lead the year-end physical inventory count process end-to-end, including count planning, results reconciliation, and variance reporting to leadership.
  • Standard Cost Management: Lead the annual standard cost update process, including labor, overhead, and material cost inputs, and maintain standard costs throughout the year as BOMs, routings, and material costs change.
  • Fixed Asset Accounting: Help oversee fixed asset accounting as inventory converts into fixed assets (e.g., units deployed into leasing or subscription programs), including capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliation of fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Oracle ERP & Manufacturing Accounting: Serve as the accounting lead on LVT's Oracle ERP project, ensuring Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and manufacturing cost setups are accurate and properly reflected from an accounting lens.
  • Financial Reporting & Close: Own the portions of the monthly and annual close process related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and fixed assets, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Audit & Compliance: Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to inventory and fixed assets, preparing comprehensive work papers and ensuring compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, document, and implement process improvements and stronger internal controls across inventory, cost accounting, and fixed asset processes-because efficiency is our favorite four-letter word.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure proper accounting treatment of complex inventory and manufacturing transactions.
  • Mentorship: Review the work of junior accounting staff and mentor team members on inventory and cost accounting concepts, paving the way for future team growth.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a meaningful portion in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing/plant accounting, preferably in a fast-paced technology, manufacturing, or subscription-based company environment.
  • Technical Skills: Deep, proven knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to inventory, cost accounting, and fixed assets, with a strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with a major ERP/accounting system.
  • Mindset: Highly detail-oriented, accurate, and possessing superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort operating on the floor with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams as well as at the desk.
  • Values: Alignment with LVT's core values: Be the Crew, Own It, Chew the Strap, Do Right, and Pursue Excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA or CMA certification (or actively pursuing).
  • Prior experience supporting an Oracle ERP implementation, particularly the inventory and manufacturing modules.
  • Experience with annual standard cost roll processes and validating BOM/routing accuracy in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience supporting a rapidly scaling, high-growth company.
  • Previous people management experience.
