The Aeronautics Engineering organization is seeking an Operations and Sustainment Chief Engineer (T06) who will be responsible for working with the O&S Program Manager and Product Support EI&E Director in developing and ensuring technical baseline management throughout the full product life cycle within Product Support disciplines. This key leadership role reports to the Chief Engineer and is based out of Melbourne, FL.

The selected candidate is responsible for working with the O&S Program manager and Product Support EI&E Director in developing and ensuring technical baseline management throughout the full product life cycle in Product Support disciplines including Reliability Maintainability & Testability (RMT), Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) & Maintenance Planning, Modeling & Simulation (ModSim), Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, Training & Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management. Recent and relevant experience in Model Based System Engineering and understanding of digital threads, digital twins, and integration across air vehicle, software, and avionics design and analysis tools is desired.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The CE maintains cognizance over technical activities within the O&S organization and ensures the program, including Suppliers, is adhering to sound engineering processes
  • Primary O&S technical representative at reviews with senior management and Customer stakeholders
  • The CE provides guidance for all related technical activities and is responsible for the integrity of the program technical baseline, technical products and interfaces with the USN Customer / Partners / Suppliers
  • The CE shall coordinate with the O&S Program Manager to ensure execution of the programs within an established cost and schedule baseline. The CE leads the technical baseline development, ensures configuration management of the design, ensures detail design approaches follow Sector processes and procedures, leads the top design/architecture approaches, and drives reuse of design concepts from across the Sector
  • Lead technical reviews (e.g., Integrated Baseline Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, proposal review and signoff) to assess technical maturity, manage risks, and ensure alignment with program objectives


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 14 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final U.S. adjudicated government Top Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed (approx. 25%)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Aircraft of Product Support technical baseline management
  • Experience in supporting Supplier SSOW, SRD and scope discussions for technical lines between organization, deliverables, and expectations
  • Experience with Requirement Development and Management supporting product, function and allocated baselines.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Experience with NAVAIR SETR Process for PDR, CDR, etc.
  • Experience across lifecycles including Research and Design, Product Development or New Product Introduction, Production, and Sustainment

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
