Job Description
If you have an understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and are excited to design and implement process improvements, the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) wants you! The Administrative Operations and Quality team is seeking an Operations Analyst to support the agency as they strive to continually improve, maximize resource use, and create value. This role involves identifying and analyzing process improvement opportunities, establishing performance standards, communicating prioritized improvement options to leadership, and assisting staff in implementing process improvements.
Responsibilities

  • Analyze process improvement opportunities and design improvement plans
  • Gather insights into the efficiency of work systems and processes and measure the effectiveness of improvement efforts
  • Support the schedule and execution of agency improvement initiatives to ensure projects are completed within established timelines
  • Help establish and evaluate agency performance standards
  • Review and support agency progress with process improvement implementation plans
  • Assist in providing solutions to constraints on agency resources
  • Create reports, memos, and data visualizations to communicate with stakeholders, including executive leadership, staff, and the public

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and work flows simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of one or more operational improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Controls, Theory of Constraints, Results Based Accountability)
  • Practical experience approving processes, especially in a government setting
  • Strong research, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly in writing, visually, and verbally

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. being subject to possible physical attack, etc.
