What You Will Be Doing
- Assist in the development and testing of AI applications that support production-operations use cases.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to apply sound software-development practices that promote code quality and scalability.
- Participate in gathering and documenting requirements from production teams, translating key operational challenges into functional specifications.
- Contribute to front-end development efforts, building intuitive user interfaces that enable end-users to interact with AI-driven tools effectively.
- Perform data extraction, cleaning, and exploratory analysis on large-volume production datasets to support model training and performance monitoring.
- Help deploy AI solutions in pilot environments, provide basic user training, and gather feedback to drive incremental improvements.
- Support change-management activities by communicating updates to end-users and ensuring that the tools remain maintainable, adaptable, and aligned with future operation needs.

This role involves directly interfacing with technical and non-technical users to truly understand their needs and then rapidly iterating to develop an application that they will love to use.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML Engineering or a related technical field

- A basic understanding of relational databases and database management

- Proficiency in Python and foundational machine learning concepts, with the ability to independently develop, train, and evaluate models leveraging libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch

- Experience developing full stack web apps using modern frameworks, with additional hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines

- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Generative AI (GenAI)

Desired skills

- Able to build Python-based ETL pipelines to integrate and process data across systems

- Familiarity with GenAI Coding Assistants

- Experience with agentic AI frameworks

- Experience in API Development & Integration

- Experience with cloud-based platforms and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

- Understanding of agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)

- Experience interfacing with database architectures such as PostgreSQL or MySQL

- Strong organization and communication skills, able to listen effectively

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML or related field

- Familiarity with MSSQL database design and optimization

- Experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows

- Experience in software development, with a focus on front-end engineering

- Experience working in the product development lifecycle (architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance)

- Experience with aircraft manufacturing processes

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $86,100 - $151,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $99,000 - $171,580. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
