Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the design and production of roadway drainage, stormwater, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Lead, manage, mentor and train a small team of junior designers.
- Develop OpenRoads models, construction plans, profiles, cross-sections, and engineering details.
- Design storm sewer systems, culverts, channels, detention facilities, and utility improvements associated with transportation projects.
- Perform and apply engineering calculations related to drainage, grading, and utility design under the direction of a licensed engineer.
- Coordinate with roadway, transportation, utility, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, and supporting design documentation.
- Provide QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with client, municipal, and DOT standards.
- Assist with resource planning, project scheduling, and identifying scope changes or project risks.
- Support the continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and software applications.
Required Qualifications- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design Technology, Applied Science, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 6+ years of experience supporting transportation, water resources, drainage, or utility design projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), OpenRoads Drainage & Utilities (ORD D&U), and MicroStation.
- Experience developing roadway drainage and utility designs for municipal or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management, utility coordination, and construction plan development.
- Familiarity with applicable DOT, municipal, and agency design standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience supporting projects for TxDOT other transportation agencies.
Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with StormCAD, SewerGEMS, OpenFlows, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, or similar drainage software.
- Experience mentoring junior technical staff and leading design production efforts.
