Job Description

The Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank Breast Surgical Oncologist to lead their multidisciplinary breast program. This individual will serve as Surgical Director of the Breast Center of the TGH Cancer Center. The service currently includes 4 breast surgeons who care for nearly 1000 new breast cancer patients annually. The goal for this recruit is to develop clinical, quality improvement, and clinical research programs in breast surgical oncology. This role will require significant interation with multidisciplinary team of individuals, including medical and radiation oncology faculty. Metrics for success will include clinical program development and quality indicators. Candidates must be experienced surgeons in breast surgery with extensive knowledge and experience in clinical trials, demonstrated excellence in clinical care of patients with breast diseases, both benign and malignant. Candidates must have success completion of a fellowship in breast surgery or extensive experience in multidisciplinary breast care. The appropriate appointment at the Assist, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Dept of Surgery will be based on the candidate qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Actively participate in didactic education of multiple learners including residents, flows, and medical students. Supervise, mentor, and train surgical residents and fellows.

Timely completion of all training courses required by hospital including a Code of Conduct course and coding courses.

Inpatient and outpatient care of patients with breast disease, both benign and malignant.

This role will require significant integration with a multidisciplinary team of individuals, including medical and radiation oncology faculty. Metrics for success will include clinical program development and quality indicators.

Qualifications

Minimum:

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. Must have current, unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida or be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Florida. Candidate must be Board Certified in General Surgery or Board Eligible in General Surgery.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

Preferred:

Successful completion of a fellowship in breast surgery or extensive experience in multidisciplinary breast care. The appropriate appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Dept of Surgery will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
