Field: This field-based role enables associates to primarily operate in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as their role requires, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. This approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness to client needs, and direct, hands-on engagement.

TheOncology Practice Enablement Clinician Senior will be responsible and accountable for partnering and building critical relationships with larger complex oncology practices to drive success with key strategic solutions that involve practice collaboration and enablement to improve member care quality and value within the development of a Value Based Network (VBN) for the Total Cost of Care (TCOC) in oncology care.
The OPEC Sr. translates performance reporting and analytics (including the Carelon Provider Dashboard) into scalable tools, guidance, and practice transformation approaches, while also contributing to solution strategy, provider engagement design, and leading the majority (but not all) of the team’s project-based work.
How you will make an impact:
- Serve as clinical subject matter expert (SME) for operational team members, while mentoring team members.
- Serve in a leadership capacity by leading special projects/initiatives; support leadership as SMEs on strategic initiatives based on clinical expertise.
- Independently manages relationships with provider practices by providing orientation, on-going training, practice enablement, transformation, and support.
- Onboards practice to VBN program.
- Provides ongoing support through Practice Support break out meetings to meet practice needs.
- Conducts regular clinically-focused, cross-functional strategic committee meetings (JOCs), with focus on assessment and evaluation of practice specific quality and key performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assess practice workflows and facilitate recurring meetings to drive progress on quality measures and cost-of-care performance; translate insights into practical, practice-ready actions.
- Conducts “deep dives” into specific quality measure and hosts review meetings as needed with practice.
- Oversee data analysis to identify positive and/or negative trends in quality data.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for provider practices for all company programs for all lines of business and other care management initiatives to include TCoC VBN Oncology program.
- Stays up to date on all VBN program related communications and disseminates to practice.
- Educates practice to all Carelon solutions to improve quality and cost of care. Participate in identifying new solutions; collect and synthesize feedback from OPECs to identify practice trends, improve existing solutions, and inform new solution design.
- Maintain understanding of oncology and palliative care clinical domain and industry changes.
- Schedule/host educational sessions for the Provider Enablement team; seek out continuing education opportunities and oncology subspecialty resources to build internal capability.
- Partners with key departments such as Carelon MBM, Carelon Palliative, Carelon Rx/Pharmacy, Network, Provider Solutions, Payment Innovation, Claims, etc.
- Partner with Carelon teams to host program specific meetings and educate practices to various solutions that support practice transformation.
- Serves as a liaison with state and regional provider contracting account managers and third-party contracting agent for VBN program.
- Executes GTM strategy in partnership with network managers and third-party vendor contracting agent.
- Support and mentor fellow clinicians.
- Works with leadership to identify and implement new solutions.
- Collects feedback from OPECs to identify practice trends to drive improvement of existing solutions or identify new solutions.
- Support leadership as SMEs in special projects/initiatives based on clinical expertise.
Minimum Requirements:Requires BA/BS in Nursing, Pharmacy or Pharm D. or MS in Social Work and a minimum of 7 years of clinical or medical management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Current, valid, active unrestricted license (RN, NP, RPh, MSW, LCSW ) in applicable state(s) or territory of the United States required. Multi-state licensure is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.
For URAC accredited areas, the following professional competencies apply: Associates in this role are expected to have strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- Experience in oncology preferred.
- Oncology practice leadership preferred.
- Experience leading Value Based Care initiatives preferred.
For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $112,880 to $203,184
