Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a ClinicalPharmacy Manager to join our team!This position will support the Mansfield, Tx location. Hours are 8:30a-5:00p, Monday through Friday.

What does the Pharmacy Manager do?

Oversees pharmacy operations to ensure pharmacy requirements are met. Oversees department job functions and ensures department operates within budget. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures. Initiates and follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Consults with physicians and other clinicians to provide expertise on all pharmacy related issues. Analyzes and reports pharmacological and disease management information. Provides hematology/oncology clinical analysis expertise to physicians and clinical staff. Conducts pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Researches and performs critical and statistical analysis of medical and scientific evidence as the basis for disease management guidelines and pharmacoeconomic comparisons of cancer therapies and regimens.
  • In coordination with the Corporate Office, develops pharmacoeconomic models for cancer treatment alternatives for case rating, capitation forecasts, and cost of goods sold reductions.
  • Develops and directs the implementation of Drug Management.
  • Process Improvement Program for assigned network. Coordinates Disease Management partnership implementation and follow-up.
  • Oversees pharmacy services in accordance with governmental, legal requirements, and other regulatory standards.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives in consultation with administration. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Prepares budget and financial reports. Monitors the allocation of resources. Monitors and informs staff of new drug regulations.
  • Establishes charging and billing procedures. Assumes responsibility for dispensing all medications. Establishes drug control procedures.
  • Develops drug purchasing systems. Resolves internal coordination problems and analyzes various operating reports.
  • Takes corrective action as necessary. Manages the selection and training/orientation of departmental personnel.
  • Initiates and promotes staff development. Assures proper training of all admixture technicians and pharmacists.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for pharmacy inventory, assuring proper inventory levels, pricing, drug outages, recalls, etc.
  • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Review departmental performance and ensures compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as education resource and consults with medical staff. Participates in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs.
  • Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff. Performs all functions required of Pharmacist and Technicians as required.
  • Manages the activities of pharmacy staff including Registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following background and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Minimum five years' experience as a registered pharmacist, with at least two years prior supervisory and management experience.
  • Five years' experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
  • Oncology background preferred.
  • Prior experience in pharmacy management.
  • Must possess current Texas Pharmacist license.
