The Occupational Therapist role facilitates the development and rehabilitation of students with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities by planning and administering occupational therapy.

Some of your daily responsibilities:

- Provide OT services for students who have the need identified in their Individualized Education Plans.

- Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual’s physical capacity, intelligence   level, and interest.

- Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting and evaluating students’ progress; recommends and   implements adjustments and modifications.

- Consults with teachers, direct care staff, BCBAs, OTs, SLPs, PTs, a nurse and other clinical and leadership staff;   contributes to student conferences.

 

The Devereux School for Integrated Learning focuses on building upon the unique strengths of each student. Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and  approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), licensure by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required and bachelor’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE: Six months of related field experience required; one year preferred. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer, and/or other internal and external software applications pertinent to the position). Strong organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to work independently.
