Occupational Therapist - RWJBarnabas HealthA typical day for an Occupational Therapist may include:- Evaluates patients and develops individualized treatment plans based on functional needs and clinical presentation
- Provides occupational therapy interventions to patients in the acute care hospital setting
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, case managers, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care
- Educates patients and families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to maximize independence
- Documents evaluations, treatment plans, patient progress, and discharge recommendations in accordance with organizational standards
- Assesses patient progress and modifies treatment plans to achieve optimal functional outcomes
- Treats patients across a variety of clinical specialties including orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, cardiac, critical care, trauma, general medicine, telemetry, emergency medicine, and pediatrics
- Recommends appropriate adaptive equipment and discharge needs to support a safe transition of care
- Maintains compliance with departmental policies, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines
- Promotes a safe, patient-centered environment while delivering high-quality rehabilitative care

To be considered for this Occupational Therapist opportunity:- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program at the baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate level required
- New Jersey Occupational Therapist license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
- Acute care hospital experience or strong acute rehabilitation experience required
- Active membership in a professional occupational therapy organization preferred
- Ability to work a full-time day shift schedule, including weekend and holiday rotations
