Occupational Therapist (FMLA) | K-6

Location: Odessa, DE
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Grade Levels: K-6th Grade
School Year: January 18 - February 7
Salary: $48.70-$60.88/hour

This is a full-time opportunity for an OT who enjoys working in an elementary school environment and collaborating with educators and other related service providers to help students access and participate successfully in their educational programs.

Caseload Details
  • Provide school-based occupational therapy services based on individual student needs and IEP requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, families, and related service providers.
  • Treating students in K-6th grade, and supporting their access to the curriculum
  • This is a blended caseload, but there will be exposure to students with more significant needs
  • Both buildings are nearby
  • This is a LOA, so the selected OT will walk into a role with a schedule and notes to review about each student
  • The caseload will be approximately 35 students
  • The selected OT should be comfortable implementing AAC, addressing behaviors, addressing sensory needs & proprioceptive input, and working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments to identify students' functional needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized OT goals and treatment plans.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services aligned with students' IEPs.
  • Address areas such as fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, handwriting, sensory processing, coordination, and functional classroom participation.
  • Consult with teachers and school staff to develop strategies that support student independence and access to the classroom.
  • Adapt materials, equipment, and classroom environments as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on student needs and data.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate treatment notes, progress reports, evaluations, and other required documentation.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid Delaware Occupational Therapy License or eligibility to obtain.
  • School-based experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students.
  • Comfortable collaborating with teachers, special education staff, families, and related service providers.
  • Passion for helping students develop the functional skills they need to participate successfully in school.
