NVIS Installation Technician

Travel: Up to 50% (some international)
Travel Compensation: All business expenses paid + per diem
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 annually (all-in earnings) DOE + credentials
Position Summary
As an NVIS Installation Technician you'll install NVIS-compatible supplemental lighting and filtration systems on both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft. You'll follow applicable STC data and Repair Station standards, complete required documentation, provide professional customer support, and help strengthen our processes through continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
NVIS/STC Installations & Quality
• Install supplemental NVIS lighting and filtration systems per applicable STC data and approved procedures
• Ensure tools and equipment remain compliant with calibration/inspection requirements throughout projects
• Execute and distribute return-to-service documentation after work is completed and approved
Documentation & Compliance
• Complete installation checklists, work orders, and required documentation per Repair Station Manual/forms requirements
• Maintain accurate expense reporting after travel/installation assignments
• Ensure initial and recurrent training records are documented and maintained per the Repair Station Training Manual
• Develop working knowledge of FAA regulations/guidance applicable to the role and consistently comply with requirements
Customer Support & Collaboration
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers (remote and on-site)
• Coordinate with customers, prospective customers, DERs, DARs, FAA, and foreign civil aviation authorities as needed during STC modifications
• Keep Quality and Repair Station leadership informed of technical issues and recurring trends
Continuous Improvement & Repair Station Support
• Identify opportunities to improve manuals, specifications, checklists, and procedures and support updates through proper approvals
• Participate in creating/updating Modification Specifications
• Support additional Repair Station functions as needed (may include general maintenance and occasional administrative/back-office tasks)
Required Qualifications (minimum one of the following):
• 4+ years of experience in aircraft electrical/avionics installation/modification; NVIS/STC installation experience strongly preferred OR
• FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe (A) and entry-level experience OR
• ASTM/NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification with 2+ years of experience
WHAT YOU BRING (Required)
• Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and a safety-first mindset
• Continued airworthiness by interpreting and applying applicable regulations (e.g., 14 CFR, EASA, internal standards) to designs, changes, and in-service issues
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow STC-driven procedures
• Professional communication and customer service skills (you'll represent ASU at customer sites)
• Valid passport required (international travel)
