Job Overview:
The Registered Dietitian will lead community nutrition education and food access programming in accordance with the RWJBH Community Health and CDC REACH Wellness projects. This position is responsible for overseeing a newly launched Food Farmacy project in Somerset, NJ, built in close collaboration with our partners at the Franklin Food Bank. The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter who is deeply passionate about addressing food insecurity, navigating the social determinants of health, and implementing impactful clinical programming alongside key community stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) accredited through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of community food access challenges and federal food assistance programs (such as SNAP, WIC, SFMNP, and CACFP).
  • Demonstrated capability in effective time management.

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Nutrition or Public Health.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in nutrition education and group teaching.
  • Active ServSafe certification.

Scheduling Requirements
  • Full-Time (FT) - Day Shift

Essential Functions:
  • Program Oversight: Oversees and manages RWJBH's newly launched Food Farmacy program in direct partnership with the Franklin Food Bank.
  • Nutrition Assessments: Completes thorough nutrition assessments, provides high-quality service, and executes timely patient follow-ups according to departmental policy.
  • Community Education: Organizes, develops, and teaches interactive group nutrition education programs for children and adults at the food bank and other partner community-based organizations.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partners closely with a multidisciplinary team-including Community Health Workers (CHWs), SNAP Navigators, and Social Workers-to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Clinical Referrals: Connects and refers program participants to the broader RWJBH clinical care teams as needed to bridge gaps in medical care.
  • Content Development: Designs and produces engaging community nutrition education activities, resources, and educational handouts.
  • Data Tracking & Analysis: Records, tracks, and analyzes specific program data points, including behavior change outcomes, food frequency assessments, and pantry utilization statistics.
  • Financial Management: Manages program expenses and allocations in strict accordance with grant funding guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engages with grant funders and community stakeholders to procure, build, and leverage key partnerships that broaden local healthcare impact.
