Description

Dietitian / Nutritionist works under the direct supervision and guidance of the Health Manager to ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality nutrition services. Dietitian / Nutritionist collaborates on an interdisciplinary team to provide guidance, support and education for the provision of nutritional services of all children and pregnant people including nutrition status assessment, special dietary accommodations, and consultation as well as providing guidance, oversight and training to all aspects of the foodservice program and staff at three sites.

1. Identify children's nutritional needs through a nutritional assessment on all children
  • Develop and implement individual care plans for all children requiring special dietary needs including but not limited to developmental readiness, food allergies, intolerances, cultural and/ or religious requirements. Maintains and assists Health Team with all site's special dietary lists / emergency alert lists
  • Evaluates growth assessments and pertinent labs on all children to assess nutrition status and documents assessment in electronic health record
  • Implements nutrition care plans when needed and as appropriate to ensure safety of classroom accommodations.
  • Conduct counseling and consultation with families of children with special nutrition related disease and or health concerns
  • Attends case review and home visits as necessary to collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate and guide education staff to implement relevant nutrition activities in the classroom, special family engagements and events

2. Provides guidance, oversight and training in all aspects of the foodservice program and staff at three sites.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations, Rhode Island Department of Health and the DHS Child Care Licensing.
  • Conduct meal observations and mandatory reporting at all sites according to the CACFP monitoring requirements.
  • Plan and develop menus and production records in compliance with CACFP regulations.
  • Monitor all aspects of the CACFP documentation to ensure compliance and assist preparation and submission of monthly claims
  • Assist Health Manager in selection, costing, and procurement of menu components.
  • Assist Health Manager in oversight of three kitchens and all foodservice staff.
  • Report to Health Manager any concerns relating to foodservice operations and staff (Including food service equipment).
  • Conduct annual mandatory staff training including CACFP requirements and any other relevant nutrition education
  • Assist Health Manager in completing annual performance evaluations on all foodservice staff.
  • Attend and assist Health Manager with planning and facilitation of Health Advisory Committee Meetings.
  • Contribute monthly articles on relevant nutrition topics for parent newsletter or communications.
  • Assist in completion of self assessment and PIR annually.
  • Attend all staff in-service trainings and or trainings pertinent to your position.
  • Acts as a liaison with all community partners and CHILD, Inc. including but not limited to WIC, SNAP-Ed and maintains working relationship for the benefit of mutually enrolled children.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Type: Full Time - 30 to 40 hours; Full Year/52 weeks or Part -Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday
