Full Job Description
Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager: supervises activities of the nursing staff, ensures that all nursing, medical and pharmacy documentation and records are completed and compiled according to policies and procedures of the Root Center for Advanced Recovery. Responsible for the efficient operation of the nursing/medical oriented portion of the respective clinic; has overall responsibility for the disbursement, distribution and administration of methadone.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the program physician, and in collaboration with the clinic supervisor, has responsibility including but not limited to:
• Shares the responsibility for the management of patients
• Coordination of all nursing and medical services within the clinic and arranges referrals to outside medical agencies for specialized treatment.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate medical records in accordance with the Root Center for Advanced Recovery, CARF Accreditation standards, Federal and State requirements.
• May be required to take and record patient vitals, provide phlebotomy services as well as any other assigned tasks.
• Conducts patient assessments for any change in patients' condition or as needed.
• Supervises the nursing staff including, but not limited to the following supervisory functions:
• Completes annual performance evaluations
• Completes supervision of nursing staff (monthly for full-time/part-time, quarterly for per diem employees)
• Interprets and executes program policies relative to medical, pharmacy and nursing responsibilities
• Performs any and all duties of the staff nursing position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree with an active Registered Nurse license for the state of Connecticut. Minimum of two years nursing experience in the behavioral health field, including one in a leadership/supervisory role. Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is preferred. Adult CPR/AED or BLS certification must be obtained and maintained within the initial 6 months of employment.
