Position Summary The Director of Simulation is a registered nurse responsible for the leadership, coordination, and operational oversight of simulation-based learning activities within the nursing program. The Director ensures simulation experiences are delivered in alignment with program outcomes, accreditation requirements, and best practices consistent with International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning Standards of Best Practice: Simulation?.
The Director supports faculty in the implementation of simulation activities and maintains quality, consistency, and effective utilization of simulation resources. This role focuses on
program coordination, facilitation support, and standards oversight.
Qualifications - Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in compliance with ND Century Code 54-03.2-04-04
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience in nursing education, administration, and clinical practice sufficient to direct simulation and learning resource activities
- Experience with simulation-based education or clinical instruction preferred
Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight - Provide leadership and oversight of the Simulation Center
- Supervise and support the Simulation Coordinator and associated responsibilities
- Ensure effective coordination and utilization of simulation and learning resources
Simulation Program Coordination - Lead implementation and coordination of simulation-based education across the nursing curriculum
- Support faculty in the delivery of simulation experiences
- Promote consistency in simulation practices aligned with INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulation?
Operations & Resource Management - Oversee daily operations of the simulation center
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate scheduling and use of simulation spaces
- Maintain simulation equipment, supplies, and learning resources
- Recommend budget decisions related to Program Fee funds to the Department of Nursing Chair
Faculty Support - Provide guidance to faculty on simulation facilitation and best practices
- Support faculty use of simulation equipment and technology
- Promote effective pre-briefing and debriefing practices
Standards & Compliance - Maintain policies and procedures related to simulation and Simulation operations
- Ensure alignment with accreditation and regulatory expectations (e.g., CCNE, Board of Nursing)
- Maintain documentation to support accreditation and program review processes
Collaboration & Program Support - Collaborate with nursing faculty and leadership to support program needs
- May convene ad hoc committees or delegate responsibilities to support simulation initiatives
