Description of Work
This position is the highest level of nursing supervision and is the Health Authority responsible for the daily management/operation of the facility's nursing operation. The position is located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close-custody male offenders.

Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols, and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Direct supervision of all nursing staff, including staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations.
  • The Nurse Supervisor supervises, conducts need assessments, develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans, and provides patient care and education to offenders.
  • Position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short- and long-term goals to Leadership for review and approval.
  • Position will perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing, and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resource management functions, and staff development.
  • The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with Physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies, and others.
  • The Nurse Supervisor must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility.


Salary Range: $71,698.00 - $118,304.00

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
