Nurse Practitionerto join our team! The Nurse Practitioner (NP) at Woodland Recovery Center is a vital member of the clinical team, providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in the substance abuse hospital. The NP will assess, diagnose, and treat patients struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and other medical issues. Working collaboratively with physicians, other NPs, therapists, and nursing staff, the NP ensures comprehensive, patient-centered care that aligns with the hospital's mission of promoting recovery and wellness.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical exams, medical history reviews, and diagnostic evaluations
- Order, interpret, and monitor diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging, to inform patient care
- Develop accurate diagnoses for substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related medical conditions
- Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices for substance abuse and mental health treatment
- Prescribe and manage medications, including medications for addiction treatment (MAT), following protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Provide ongoing evaluation and modification of treatment plans based on patient progress, side effects, and emerging health needs
- Educate patients and their families on substance use disorders, treatment options, recovery goals, and relapse prevention
- Offer supportive counseling to motivate patients, promote health and wellness, and address any concerns related to their treatment
- Facilitate group or individual therapy sessions as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a supportive and therapeutic environment
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other team members to coordinate patient care and ensure a cohesive treatment approach
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and treatment planning sessions to align patient care strategies and update treatment plans as needed
- Act as a liaison between the patient, family, and medical staff to ensure open communication and holistic care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Ensure all care is provided in compliance with federal and state laws, including HIPAA, and meet hospital protocols for privacy and confidentiality
- Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and peer reviews to support the hospital's commitment to high-quality, compliant care
- Stay current on best practices in addiction medicine, mental health treatment, and evidence-based substance abuse therapies
- Participate in ongoing education, workshops, and training sessions to maintain licensure and enhance clinical knowledge
- Contribute to educational initiatives for staff, patients, and families, promoting awareness and understanding of substance use disorders and recovery processes
Qualifications- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Mississippi
- Certification as an NP (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
Preferred Qualifications- DEA license and buprenorphine waiver (or willingness to obtain for MAT) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with experience in substance abuse treatment, mental health, or behavioral health settings preferred
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with specialization in Family, Adult, or Psychiatric Mental Health highly preferred
