What you'll be doing
The nurse practitioner's primary responsibility is to evaluate patient's opioid use disorder and develop medication treatment plans as appropriate. She/he will conduct thorough medical history and physical examinations on new patients, annual medical evaluations for established patients, make appropriate recommendations for follow-up of chronic medical conditions, and perform medication reviews for all enrolled patients. The nurse practitioner will coordinate care in a multi-disciplinary team approach in regard to patient medical, emotion, and behavioral health conditions.

Some Essential Functions Include:
  • Evaluates and assess patients using various clinical tools such as vital signs, physical examinations, and COWS to determine type of MAT medication for treatment and dosage amount of MAT medication
  • Performs initial intake medical examinations to determine medical appropriateness and potential safety risks associated with administration of MAT medications, on site jail intakes as well as telehealth
  • Meets with patients when there is a medical concern from fellow staff members that has the potential to be a safety risk for the patient to assess appropriateness for continued MAT
  • Assesses any and all patients who were recently discharged from the hospital to verify their last dose of medication related to MAT and determine if they meet medical criteria to continue with MAT
  • Reviews all intake laboratory results for potential health conditions or complications that require treatment and/or impact the patient's ability to engage in MAT services

What we need from you

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Accredited School of Nursing plus graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • One year of experience as a nurse practitioner in a community health agency, hospital, or provider's office
  • Active and unrestricted registered nurse license for the state of Washington
  • Active and unrestricted advanced registered nurse practitioner license for the state of Washington
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number, or the ability to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from an accredited school of nursing with an accredited nurse practitioner program
  • One year of experience as a nurse practitioner working in a behavioral health, public health, or addiction medicine setting.
  • Experience with MAT or knowledge of the principles and techniques of treatment of co-occurring disorders is required
  • CARN-AP (Certified Addictions Registered Nurse- Advanced Practice) certification from ANCB
Malpractice Insurance Requirement:
  • This position requires the practitioner to maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance coverage throughout the duration of employment. It is the ARNP's responsibility to obtain and retain coverage that meets minimum standards for independent clinical practice.
