Position DescriptionProvides primary care as part of a health care team in an ambulatory setting in a particular discipline. Provides patient education and counseling as well as physical assessment. May participate in teaching programs for students and other student residents. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals. Some positions in the classification require travel to outreach clinics and home visits, and participation in educational efforts and special programs that occur outside of normal working hours.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide primary care as a part of a healthcare team in an ambulatory setting.
- Provide patient education and counseling.
- Conduct patient health and physical assessments.
- Complete all training required by the institution and department by the deadlines identified.
- Complete patient charts and enter data into the Electronic Health Records (EHR), meeting deadlines identified by the department.
- Attend departmental meetings, such as the monthly provider meeting, in addition to other meetings as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications- Holds a MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) and CNP (Certified Nurse Practitioner)
- Experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- Experience in providing primary care in an ambulatory setting.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR).
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Occasional Duties- Attend conferences to complete CEUs as needed.
- Travel to meetings in different locations.
- Participate in teaching programs and serve as a preceptor for teaching programs for students as identified by the department and supervisor.
Required QualificationsEducation: Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners must be attained prior to the employment start date. Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
Visa InformationTTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
