This opportunity is full-time, offers full benefits and a flexible schedule.

The basic purpose of nursing is to provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice.

Qualifications

Basic Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for managing health problems and coordinating age appropriate health care to the patient. Part of the innovative care team that will meet the individual needs of the patients and their family. Functions independently and under a collaborative agreement with the supervising physician and receives administrative supervision from a clinical departmental director. Practices in accordance with hospital rules and regulations and the APNs professional body's standard of care providing evidence-based age appropriate care in an age appropriate care model. Included in their scope of practice is performing histories, examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures along with prescribing pharmalogical and non-pharmalogical interventions. Manages chronic patient conditions and is instrumental in providing patient/family education. Active as a respected member of the healthcare team designed to meet the individual needs of the patient and their family. Takes key responsibility as a patient advocate and ensuring referral of the patient when necessary. Affects direct patient care according to the nurse practice act of the State of Texas and Texoma Medical Center Standards of Nursing Care policies and procedures.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:

  • Recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • Three years experience in acute care specialty nursing. Three years in Advanced Practice preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer, and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting.
  • Must maintain all clinical competencies for area of supervision.
  • Must maintain all additional certifications required by area of supervision.
  • Clinical certification in area of supervision preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills, sound decision making and problem solving abilities.
  • Must be service excellence focused (strong customer service and team building skills).
  • Ability to communicate clearly defined expectations.
  • Excellent computer skills in a variety of healthcare related computer programs as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills as well as project management skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
  • Must be clinically competent in area of population served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
