NURSE PRACTITIONER

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides patient services under the direct supervision and responsibility of the designated supervising staff physician
- Obtains medical and personal histories
- Performs initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations
- Educates patients and families
- Prioritizes and assesses patients
- Provides primary care through wellness visits and assessment
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses to a variety of patients
- Maintains standard universal precautions
- Prescribes medications and completes treatments according to office policies and within age-specific parameters
- Maintains and completes all necessary patient record documentation
- Assist Practice Manager in clinical skills guidance and training for clinical staff
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required
- Licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Nurse
- Unrestricted active Nurse Practitioner Texas license
- Board Certified
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Graduate of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner accredited program.
- At least 3 years experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner
- Positive, energetic attitude
- Team oriented with strong sense of personal responsibility
- Solid multi-tasking, problem solving and organizational skills
Preferred
- Demonstrated computer skills with EMR experience preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
The employee is routinely required to sit frequently, use a keyboard, mouse, telephone, headset, and other standard office equipment. Frequently communicate via text, email, phone, chat and video. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.
