JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the comprehensive administration of a patient care services (PCS) department or a cluster of departments. The director shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of nursing as it relates short and long term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, staffing, performance improvement and healthcare system utilization.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduate of a school of nursing. Bachelors Degree or able to complete within two (2) years required. Effective 6/1/2013, all new hires into this position must have a BSN or MSN.
Experience:
Three (3) years recent acute care experience and two (2) years progressive management or leadership experience.
License and Certification:
Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Certification in leadership or clinical specialty or ability to attain within six (6) months of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain BLS within 90 days of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Master's Degree in Nursing
Experience:
Four (4) years progressive management or leadership experience.
License and Certification:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Certification in Leadership.
