Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership- Provide leadership and supervision for all family birthing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support personnel
- Ensure high-quality, evidence-based care across labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn services
- Promote patient safety and oversee clinical standards, policies, and procedures
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex obstetric and neonatal cases
Operations Management- Manage day-to-day operations of the Family Birthing Unit, including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow
- Monitor unit productivity, census, and resource allocation
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated care
- Address operational challenges common to rural healthcare environments (e.g., limited resources, transfers)
Staff Development & Engagement- Recruit, train, and retain qualified nursing staff
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
- Promote continuing education, certifications (NRP, ACLS, etc.), and professional growth
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care
Qualifications:- Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required
- BLS required.
- BSN required
- Degree from accredited academic nursing program
