Overview
The Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and operational leadership of invasive and interventional cardiac and vascular services, including the Electrophysiology (EP) program. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care across all procedural areas.
The Cath Lab Manager provides comprehensive oversight of clinical operations, fiscal management, and performance improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. This leader is responsible for managing all aspects of personnel processes, including staffing, development, and performance management, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
This position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to make timely decisions and successfully manage change within a dynamic healthcare environment. The Cath Lab Manager works closely with interdisciplinary teams and organizational leadership, serving as a key member of the management team and ensuring seamless coordination across departments to support program growth and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Clinical Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of invasive and interventional cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiology services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
- Promote and maintain a collaborative, team-oriented environment among staff and physicians across all units.
- Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to resolve conflicts effectively and support positive working relationships.
Staff Leadership and Development
- Assess clinical nursing practices to identify gaps and areas for improvement, implementing action plans to enhance competency and performance.
- Support a culture of continuous learning by identifying educational needs and facilitating ongoing staff development and training.
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving clinical practices, technologies, and industry standards.
Equipment, Inventory, and Technology Management
- Oversee equipment and inventory management to ensure availability, functionality, and cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and optimization of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other clinical technologies.
Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, including AACPVR and Intersocietal Commission guidelines.
- Maintain department readiness for surveys, audits, and accreditation reviews.
- Implement policies and procedures that align with regulatory and organizational standards.
Performance Improvement and Project Management
- Lead and support performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Manage departmental and organizational projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic goals.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor performance metrics and implement process improvements.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Interface with multiple departments and organizational leaders to ensure seamless coordination of patient care services.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to support strategic initiatives and departmental objectives.
Qualifications
- Management and clinical experience in Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab required.
- Minimum 3 years Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
- Clinical experience with electrophysiology preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds, training and experience.

- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Magnet Recognition)
