Full Job Description
The Specialty Care Center (SCC) Nurse Director is responsible for the growth, quality, patient experience, people, operational, financial, and regulatory performance of the SCC clinical service line across applicable inpatient and outpatient settings. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Service Line Growth and Strategic Performance. Develop and execute service-line plans aligned with organizational strategy, community needs, market opportunity, access goals, and financial capacity. Monitor demand, referral patterns, market position, capacity, performance trends; identify opportunities to expand appropriate services, improve access, retain care locally, and strengthen physician and community relationships.
  2. Operational Excellence and Financial Stewardship. Maintain accountability for service-line operations, departmental statistics, productivity, staffing models, payroll, revenue and expense performance, operating and capital budgets, resource utilization, throughput, access, and corrective action plans. Use data and standard work to reduce variation, improve efficiency, and achieve established performance targets.
  3. Quality, Safety, Patient Experience, and Regulatory Compliance. Ensure implementation and monitoring of quality, patient safety, regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, risk, and compliance requirements within the service line. Actively support patient-experience and survey initiatives, participate in regulatory surveys, and support safety-event prevention, review, analysis, and sustainable corrective actions.
  4. People Leadership and Engagement. Lead managers, coordinators, clinicians, and other staff members through workforce planning, recruitment, selection, onboarding, coaching, recognition, performance evaluation, corrective action, and termination in accordance with organizational policy. Establish clear expectations, strengthen physician and staff engagement, support succession planning, and foster an accountable, collaborative, high-performing culture.
  5. Clinical and Administrative Oversight. Maintain accountability for service-line policies and procedures, role-specific training, mandatory education, competencies, documentation, equipment, and readiness requirements. Delegate execution as appropriate while retaining oversight for completion, effectiveness, and compliance.
  6. Collaboration, Communication, and Continuous Improvement. Build effective partnerships with physicians, nursing, medical group operations, finance, quality, human resources, information services, supply chain, revenue cycle, marketing, and external partners. Communicate goals, results, risks, decisions, and resource needs within and outside the service line; lead process-improvement work and ensure service-line initiatives remain connected to enterprise priorities.


Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, a clinical discipline, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Nursing or other clinical license preferred, but not required. If the applicant practices under a nursing or other clinical credential, current and unrestricted licensure or certification applicable to the role must be maintained in the State of Ohio, together with all required continuing education and competency requirements.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including responsibility for clinical or operational performance, budgeting, workforce management, quality improvement, and service line or departmental growth.
  • Demonstrated success leading managers and interdisciplinary teams and improving measurable operational, financial, quality, experience, or engagement outcomes.
