Summary/Objective

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Supervising Technologist is responsible for overseeing Nuclear Medicine/PET staff ensuring efficient and effective patient care is provided to a wide variety of patients. This Clinical position requires skills and experience in managing work flow, interacting with physicians and processes and protocols for applications. The Nuclear Medicine/PET Supervising Technologist must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Performs Nuclear Medicine and PET exams safely and proficiently. Exhibits proficient knowledge in the technical aspects of diagnostic nuclear medicine and PET and applications in therapeutic nuclear medicine. Applies general ALARA concepts to maintain patient safety. Possesses basic anatomical and physiological knowledge to provide nuclear medicine studies.
  2. Maintains knowledge of the Radioactive Material License and Texas Rules and Regulations governing the utilization of radiopharmaceuticals. Orders/receives/stores/handles/injects and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals appropriately and within RAM guidelines.
  3. Maintains current knowledge in the utilization of Nuclear Medicine and PET equipment and all current software.
  4. Completes all PACS/RIS/Nuclear Medicine/PET computer data entry timely and accurately
  5. Maintains wipe surveys, daily quality control, quarterly quality control, and assists physicists/inspectors in surveys as required. Participates in department Performance Improvement activities.
  6. Participates in clinical oversight of student trainees.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and have advanced training from an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Program. Must have 3 - 5 years' experience in hospital environment either as a Registered Radiographic or Nuclear Medicine Tech.

Required License/Certifications

Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB),

Current registration with A.R.R.T (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist),

Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 30 days of hire
