Job Description:

This role will execute the development execution of Caterpillar’s advanced safety and automation feature sets that enables our customers to optimize their machines and jobsites. Starting with close alignment with commercial teams to understand the customer pain points for better managing their business, this role will clarify requirements for key features. This position will then work across the divisions inside Caterpillar to drive the alignment, development, and cadence for delivering these features to the market. Individuals must demonstrate an understanding of customer financial impact, business judgement, ability to align multiple diverse teams, and a sense of urgency to deliver customer value. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar and we can’t wait for you to join the team!

What You Will Do:

  • Understand and prioritize customer pain points related to safety and automation with their machines and job sites. Work with commercial teams to align on customer value and use cases.
  • Execute a multi-generational development plan to solve high priority customer business pain building on existing platforms and driving key innovations where necessary
  • Align across the enterprise to drive leverageable solution sets that meet customer expectations for functionality, quality, and ease of use
  • Lead development programs and Annual Product Updates to drive the delivery of key safety and automation features at a cadence that meets customer expectations and leads the industry

What You Will Have:

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic:
    • Ability to work with commercial team members and customers to understand prioritized feature set and detailed requirements
    • Develops a product roadmap based on customer priority, technical readiness, and business considerations
    • Aligns and drives NPI execution across the enterprise to deliver key products to market to deliver business results and solve customer pain points
  • Products and Services:
    • Has deep product knowledge of Caterpillar’s construction machines and how they are used within the jobsite
    • Has demonstrated the ability to deliver high quality solutions on time and within project budgets
    • Ability to think beyond single machine solutions to deliver products that solve customer business problems that extend to the jobsite, workforce, etc
  • Effective Communications:
    • Able to create strong customer and commercial team relationships based on mutual understanding, respect, trust and demonstrated history of delivering customer success. 
    • Ability to communicate product roadmap value in a compelling way with process partners to drive prioritization and alignment
    • Has demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams in delivering high value projects to market
    • Effective at upward communication to elevate and drive closure for project roadblocks
  • Education requirement:
    • Candidates should possess a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, Business Management, Construction Management or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise. 

Consideration for Top Candidates:

  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Customer/Commercial and Engineering teams to drive successful project delivery.
  • Product Development, Definition or Management experience
  • Experience working with customers to partner in building solutions to achieve their business objectives
  • Technical/Industry knowledge and ability to interface with Product Development teams
  • Experience or knowledge in Automotive, Industrial, Agriculture, Mining or Construction preferred.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Additional locations are Irving, TX and Clayton, NC.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
