Full Job Description
Purpose of Position
Provide general internal medicine services for patients admitted to the Hospitalist service.

Description
1. Perform admission evaluation or admit and manage patients at the request of Cape Cod Hospital primary care, ED or Hospitalist physicians. Provide general internal medicine consultative services and treatment for patients in the emergency room that have already been evaluated by an emergency room physician.
2. Coordinate care with appropriate specialty physicians.
3. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of clinical work performed and timely completion of billing encounter sheets.
4. Maintain all necessary certifications and CCH medical staff appointment as an allied health provider.
5. Collaborate closely with the attending hospitalist physician. The mid-level's scope of practice can never exceed the scope of practice of the immediate physician supervisor.
6. Ability to work well under pressure, be patient-focused, work independently, and know when and how to ask for help.
7. Maintain professional, cordial and productive working relationships with medical, nursing and ancillary staff.
8. Communicate effectively and participate actively on the health care team.
9. Comply with CCH Medical Staff Bylaws policies, and Rules and Regulations pertaining to physician extenders, CCH Human Resources policies, and CCH Corporate Compliance Policies.
10. Perform other work-related duties as requested/directed.
11. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
12. Challenges current working practices identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization's culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.

Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING (NP):
• (MSN) - A Master of Science in Nursing or higher
• (CNP) - Currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• (BLS) - Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 30 days, offered within)
• (ACLS) - Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
• (DEA) - US Department of Justice DEA Registration (required if prescribing)
• (MCSR) - Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (required if prescribing)
• Two years' experience as NP or PA caring for adult medical patients

• (MPAS) - Masters from a program accredited by the ARC-PA
• (PA) - Currently licensed as a Physician's Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• (BLS) - Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 30 days, offered within)
• (ACLS) - Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
• (DEA) - US Department of Justice DEA Registration (required if prescribing)
• (MCSR) - Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (required if prescribing)
