Normet Technical Specialist - North America

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITY:

The Technical Specialist role is responsible for providing quality technical support and engineering, in development, maintenance, training, and product services across the Normet fleet of underground electric and mechanical fleet.

REPORTING TO:

Services Manager, North America

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Technical and Engineering
  • Ability to work through complex Normet product related issues and support both internal and external stakeholders in mining and tunneling applications
  • Ability to analyze, provide recommended changes, and update engineering documents including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and parts related drawings / technical documents
  • Subject matter expert on Normet fleet, navigating through inter-related software, digital applications, document libraries, and product specific platforms
  • Provides technical support and training to end users, operators, and service personnel
  • Provides feedback to factories to enable improvements to the equipment or its operation, through both technical feedback systems and factory level network
  • Support with root cause analysis tools and report writing, supporting Normet quality management systems
  • Support with predictive operating cost models and both internal / external recommended parts requirements across Normet fleet
  • Lead for local product improvement testing and implementation
  • Support to warranty investigations from a technical advisor position
  • Ability to assist with equipment installations and demonstrations
  • Ability to create customized training material for specific applications

Stakeholder Management
  • Customer focused to positively support the growth of Normet
  • Customers include both internal and external stakeholders, ability to conduct work in a professional manner
  • Assists customers with parts interpretations, maintenance troubleshooting, feedback to the factory
  • Ability to conduct customer visits, localized training sessions, and present reports to different levels of authority

HSEQ - Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
  • Complies with all Normet policies with HSEQ
  • Active participant in ensuring Normet operations and products support HSEQ initiatives
  • Support to risk assessments, incident investigations, and product related legislative safety specifications, North America
  • Ability to support the creation and updating of HSEQ documentation where applicable

Personal Responsibility
  • Ensures compliance to Normet Values, & Normet Policies and Procedures
  • Continuous improvement journey with behaviors supporting improved product knowledge, learning and development, and competency training
  • Retain existing industry certifications, and where applicable acquire updates and advancement
  • Active contributor and team member in both the sales and service teams, North America

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Maintenance professional with a technical degree or equivalent certification
  • Engineering professional within the discipline of electrical, mechanical, industrial, or hydraulic
  • Underground mining heavy equipment maintenance experience >7 years
  • Understanding and knowledge of underground mining and blasting operations
  • Must have existing legal work authorization for the country applying to the role for

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • This role requires occasional travel to underground mine sites in North America. Candidates must be able to travel frequently and for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to undertake tasks outside of this position description taking into consideration the relevant skills and experience at the request of the reporting manager.
  • This role is expected to have a normal work week in accordance with regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 40 hours. There may be some weekend or longer hours dependent on the project scope deliverables and will be compensated accordingly.

  • Must report all safety issues and or emergencies in the workplace.
