About the RoleThe Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all night shift construction activities on a mining project in Wells, BC. The ideal candidate has progressed through the mining or heavy civil industry into construction supervision and brings practical Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) leadership experience. This individual is a visible leader who promotes accountability, mentors field personnel, and drives a culture where safe production is the standard. This role operates on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off FIFO rotation and requires the ability to work in remote camp environments across North America.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all night shift construction activities while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
- Supervise field personnel, subcontractors, equipment operators, and trades across multiple work fronts.
- Coordinate daily work plans, shift handovers, and crew assignments with the Construction Superintendent and day shift leadership.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and resource utilization to achieve project objectives.
- Maintain a strong field presence through visible leadership and regular engagement with crews.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and leading by example.
- Conduct field inspections, safety observations, toolbox talks, and workplace audits.
- Review and verify Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures, permits, and critical lift or high-risk work plans.
- Lead incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
- Identify hazards and implement practical risk mitigation strategies before work begins.
- Coordinate with HSE personnel to ensure site safety programs are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Complete daily shift reports, progress tracking, equipment utilization reports, and workforce documentation.
- Support project planning by identifying schedule risks, resource constraints, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop supervisors, forepersons, operators, and field personnel.
- Foster positive working relationships with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Package Details
Qualifications- 10+ years of mining, heavy civil, industrial construction, or earthworks experience.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience on mining or industrial construction projects.
- Previous experience leading crews on remote FIFO mining projects.
- Practical Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) leadership experience in construction or mining environments.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, and field safety inspections.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, productivity management, and workforce coordination.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout North America.

- Experience with digital field reporting systems is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), CRSP, or equivalent HSE designation.
- Supervisor or leadership training.
- Standard First Aid.
- WHMIS.
- Incident Investigation training.
Compensation- Compensation is based on actual hours worked and paid on an hourly basis.
- Competitive hourly rates are offered based on experience and qualifications.
Work Schedule- FIFO rotation of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off.
- Permanent night shift assignment.
- On-site work is generally performed up to 12 hours per day.
- Travel time to and from project sites is paid from the point of hire up to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.
- Travel costs to and from project sites are covered, including meals and per diems where applicable.
