Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Regional Training & Assurance Superintendent to join our NGM Safety, Health, and Training team. The successful candidate will engage with several key internal and external stakeholders to initiate and support safe and responsible mining operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision, mentoring, coaching, and development for Training Mine General Supervisors, Training Assurance Specialists, and Regional Competency Specialists.
  • Establish priorities, schedules, workload distribution, and resource allocation across regional Training Mine and Assurance teams.
  • Lead workforce planning and staffing strategies to support current and future organizational needs.
  • Conduct performance reviews, development planning, succession planning, and talent management activities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and field execution across all mine sites
  • Provide operational leadership for New Hire Training, Hazard Training, Intro to Work, and Training Mine programs.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of curriculum delivery across all sites and divisions.
  • Oversee implementation of Competency Based Training requirements.
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement of training materials, lesson plans, assessments, and training processes.
  • Ensure training delivery aligns with NGM standards, regulatory requirements, and workforce needs.
  • Monitor Training Mine performance metrics and effectiveness.
  • Provide operational leadership for the Regional Training Assurance Program.
  • Oversee training compliance reviews, documentation audits, trainer qualification reviews, and competency verification activities.
  • Ensure consistent execution of field engagements, competency assessments, and assurance activities across all sites.
  • Monitor verification findings, audit results, and corrective actions to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Establish risk-based coverage strategies for competency verification and assurance activities.
  • Ensure findings are communicated effectively and corrective actions are tracked to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable MSHA, State, and company requirements.
  • Support implementation and sustainment of the Training Management Standard, CBT Procedure, competency verification requirements, and related governance systems.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices and emerging workforce development strategies.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with site leadership, operational departments, Health & Safety teams, and subject matter experts.
  • Communicate training and assurance performance, findings, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Support alignment and standardization initiatives across Nevada Gold Mines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workforce competency, training effectiveness, assurance processes, and compliance performance.
  • Utilize data, performance metrics, audit results, and field observations to drive decision making.
  • Support development of long-term workforce competency and assurance strategies.
  • Lead initiatives focused on increasing consistency, effectiveness, and operational value of training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten (10) years mining experience in surface, underground, process operations, health & safety, training, or workforce development. required
  • Minimum five (5) years leadership experience managing supervisors, specialists, or multidisciplinary teams. required
  • Demonstrated experience leading training, workforce development, competency management, or assurance programs. required
  • Thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining industry training requirements. required
  • Experience developing and implementing competency-based training systems. required
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and employee development skills. required
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. required
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization. required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Organizational Development, Occupational Safety, Mining Engineering, or related field. preferred
  • Experience implementing or administering Learning Management Systems. preferred
  • Experience leading audit, compliance, assurance, or workforce competency programs. preferred
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or regional operations. preferred
  • Familiarity with Training Management Systems, competency frameworks, and assurance methodologies. preferred
