Job DescriptionDescriptionProvide technical and operational leadership to the site geology team, including geologists and technicians, with accountability for safety performance, development, and delivery of high-quality geological outputs. The role is responsible for optimizing orebody knowledge and maximizing asset value through effective geological modeling, grade control, and resource conversion.
Responsibilities:- Lead and mentor a team of geologists and technicians, ensuring technical and professional development, focused on building a world-class team
- Ensure safety KPIs are defined and delivered by the entire team
- Own and execute strategic conversion drilling programs focused on resource and reserve conversion supported by strong geologic interpretation and consideration for mining and processing
- Own and execute grade control drilling programs to effectively de-risk the near-term plan
- Ensure technical knowledge for geological mapping, drilling, and logging programs has been adequately captured and integrated into models and resulting plan
- Ensure detailed mine plan reviews with consideration for geologic risk and execute mitigation plan for near-term and LOM plan
- Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Safety, and Finance)
- Monitor departmental KPI's to ensure agreed work programs, drilling, cost, and ounce delivery targets are met
Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science degree with equivalent experience
- Over ten (10) years' experience in mine geology or exploration providing expert competency
- Minimum five (5) years' in a senior role managing a team of technical and supporting technician roles
