OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS
The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as a Network/Telecommunications Specialist. The incumbent under the direction of the Technical Services Supervisor, performs a wide variety of highly specialized, campus-wide, technical support in the design, installation, and maintenance of an integrated voice/data/video telecommunications utility, local area networks and wide area networks, including the Internet. Responsible for coordinating the operation and maintenance of the utility, and developing plans for the implementation of new applications to meet changing voice, data and video communication needs. Supports Windows, Server, Windows Client, Macintosh, Unix, electronic mail, telephone, voice mail, switch/router systems. May act as a lead and coordinate work teams comprised of lab technicians, student workers and faculty. Salary: Range CL-43

$35.18 - $44.00 Hourly

$6,098 - $7,626 Monthly (based on 40 hours per week)

Initial Salary Placement: New employees start at Step A ($35.18 per hour) or B ($37.21 per hour) on the salary schedule.

VETERAN'S POINTS:
  • Veterans not previously employed by the District, with 30 days or more of military service who become eligible for appointment by attaining the passing mark established for the examination, shall be allowed an additional credit of five (5) points and disabled veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of ten (10) points, which shall be added to the percentages attained in the examinations by the veterans.
  • Any applicant who claims veteran's credit must submit Form DD 214 at the time the employment application is submitted. Failure to submit Form DD 214 at the time of application shall result in no veteran's credits being considered or added to any passing score.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS:
  • The assessment process for this position may include any combination of the following:
  1. An application screening for initial qualifications
  2. Supplemental training and experience screening, documentation(s)/ certification(s) screening
  3. Written assessment (Written assessments contain proprietary content and are in-person only and cannot be completed remotely.)
  4. Performance assessment (Performance assessments are conducted in-person at the same time as the written assessment.)
  5. Oral assessment (Oral assessments are conducted over Zoom. If you lack reliable computer or internet connectivity, accommodations will be provided in the Personnel Commission office for your participation.)
  • The District reserves the right to utilize a flexible pass point (cut-off) on any test part to meet the staffing needs as determined by the District.
  • If you participate in and fail any assessment segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (approximately 3 months) to apply/test again for the same classification during a posted recruitment.
