The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Network and Computer Systems Administrator (JSE)-Journeyman. The salary range of this position is $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Network and Computer Systems Administrator (JSE)-Journeyman may include:
  • Installs, configures and maintains an organization's local area network (LAN), data communications network, operating systems and physical/virtual servers
  • Performs system monitoring
  • Verifies the integrity/availability of hardware, network and server resources/systems
  • Reviews system and application logs
  • Verifies completion of scheduled jobs and system backups
  • Analyzes network and server resource consumption and controls user access
  • Installs/Upgrades software and maintains software licenses
  • Assists in network emulation/virtualization, analysis, planning and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software
  • Configures Brocade and Ruckus networking devices
  • Sets up routing tables and groups to support fast and efficient network traffic across multiple network segments and subnets using multicast and IGMP protocols


Must-haves:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) OR Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) OR Security CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) OR Federal IT Security Professional-Operator-NG (FITSP-O) OR GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies (GFACT) OR GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) OR RHEL certification
  • The ability to troubleshoot and support the full network environment, not limited to switch-level issues
  • Experience with multicast routing using Brocade OR Ruckus equipment
  • Experience with COMSEC/TACLANE installation and configuration
  • Experience with configuring VPNs and VLANs
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with ACAS (Automated Cybersecurity Assessment System)
  • Familiarity with STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides)
  • Experience with Linux versions 7-10
  • Familiarity with RHEL, SUSE and Ubuntu distributions
  • VMware experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Minimum clearance required to apply (candidates who do not currently hold the required clearance will not be considered): DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Additional Accesses: The ability to obtain and maintain the DoD security clearance eligibility and/or additional security access requirements necessary to perform the duties of the position, as required by the contract


Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Windows Server 2022/2025 and/or Active Directory (AD)
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible and/or Terraform
  • Experience with PDQ Deploy
  • Experience with VxRail

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to support various labs at PAX River. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
